VFACTS: Strong End of Financial Year New Car Sales Results

That’s another financial year done and dusted, and new car sales did not disappoint in June as we saw the highest number of units sold in 2021 so far.

With 110,664 new cars sold, this constitutes a 430-vehicle sale or 0.4% increase on the 2020 June result according to the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI). June traditionally produces strong results, as demand grows from business and private buyers fuelled by EOFY Government incentives such as the instant asset write-off scheme, and customers take advantage of strong manufacturer marketing campaigns.

Sales of the SUV class totalled to 53,761, up by 1,837 (3.5%), passenger vehicle market 23,361, down by 1,682 (-6.7%), Light commercial vehicles 28,550, also down by 95 (-0.3%), and heavy commercial 4,992 is up by 8% in comparison to June 2020.

Again, Toyota dominated the market recording 21,076 sales followed by Mazda with 12,225 and Ford at 8,456; although the Ford Ranger topped the charts for Top Selling Cars in June 2021. For only the second time in Australian automotive history, utes filled the top three sales spots outright in a given month.

Here are the rankings for New Car Sales for June 2021.
